The Iranian community in Vancouver is growing larger every day, and Samira Pigeau, who came to Vancouver twenty-four years ago, is now working as an assistant director in the film industry. By marrying a non-Iranian, she has been exposed to the fusion of cultures. Samira believes that understanding our culture and cultural identity leads to our growth and excellence, and we should teach it to our children as well.

To celebrate the Persian New Year, she has made a film about the Nowruz Haft-Seen table, which measures the awareness of Persian speakers about one of the Nowruz symbols. Samira points out that one of the beauties of life in Canada is paying attention to the cultural roots of different nations, and the harmony of these cultures in society contributes to their well-being and greater happiness.

She says that many non-Iranians are also looking forward to Nowruz these days because they have found joy and vitality in this beautiful tradition. She teaches traditions as a means of connecting people in a diverse community. She notes that her non-Iranian spouse is gaining more knowledge these days and becoming more familiar with Iranian culture.

Samira finds the presence of thousands of Iranians at the Fire Festival celebration in Coquitlam strange but fascinating. She emphasizes that new immigrants should also participate in social activities aside from focusing on rituals. She was upset to see Lafarge Lake Park littered with a lot of garbage after the celebration and stressed that everyone should strive to maintain cleanliness in their living environment.

Samira believes that she is a traveller who has arrived home, and Canada is her home. She has introduced her film on her YouTube channel and invites everyone to watch it.
