Empowering Women in Winnipeg Through Connection, Creativity, and Community Healing
In an ever-evolving world, finding authentic connections and support among women can be an invaluable gift. Workshop facilitator Liliane Régnier has dedicated her life to fostering these bonds, creating spaces where women can gather, share, and heal. Her journey as a community builder and guide began with her own transformative experiences, including a home birth that inspired her to become a doula and later to develop workshops tailored to meet women’s needs during various stages of life.

Liliane’s workshops explore skill-building, rediscovering self-love, healing, and creativity in a safe, judgment-free space. “This connection with myself and others is essential,” Liliane explains. “I see myself as a bridge, facilitating opportunities for women to connect deeply with one another.” Whether through creative outlets like intuitive painting or meditative rituals such as the Red Thread ceremony, each workshop is infused with playfulness, reflection, and reverence for nature.
One of the themes Liliane emphasizes is the power of witnessing and being witnessed. She offers the example of her Red Thread ritual, a symbol of interwoven connections used to create a more inviting atmosphere for participants to share openly. “When we practice the art of really seeing each other in this way, by gathering meaningfully, this is how we heal ourselves, each other, our families, and ultimately humanity.”
To enhance these experiences, Liliane integrates grounding elements from nature, such as rocks, feathers, and branches, fostering a connection with Gaia or Mother Earth, which she sees as crucial for nurturing herself and others. In addition, Liliane includes rituals with cacao tea, a tradition she adopted from a friend with a chronic illness, to promote heart-centred mindfulness and connection.
Liliane also recognizes the value of community for women in life’s transitional phases, be it motherhood, career changes, or perimenopause. “These are times when we need each other the most,” she notes. “Women in middle age especially need support, as they often find themselves facing shifts in identity and purpose. My workshops provide an outlet, a reminder that they are seen and valued.”
In her sessions, Liliane incorporates playful activities like laughter, yoga, colouring, and journaling, encouraging participants to reconnect with their inner child. These gatherings are open to women of all ages, with no artistic background required. “It’s not about the outcome,” Liliane stresses. “Many believe they have to be ‘artistic’ to join, but it’s about the experience, about what emerges when we’re true to ourselves on the canvas.”
Liliane’s work also extends to elder women, whom she encourages to embrace their role as community “Elders.” She reflects on how modern society often leaves older women feeling unseen, yet Elders hold a revered place in Indigenous traditions. “It’s essential for us to reconnect with these generational bonds,” she says. “Women in these roles carry wisdom that is invaluable to our younger generations.”
In her work, Liliane is not simply a facilitator but a nurturer, storyteller, and witness. Her vision is clear: through meaningful gatherings, playful creativity, and shared vulnerability, women can heal and empower one another in profound ways.
