TDSCO Circulating a Survey for the Housing Needs of the MRC Residents

Recently the housing working committee of the Table de développement social des Collines-de-l'Outaouais (TDSCO) has invited people aged 15 years and over who have a primary residence in the MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais to complete this questionnaire. Those who own a vacation home/ seasonal (cottage) should not complete it. The purpose of this consultation is to gain a better understanding of the needs and resources available in our region with respect to housing. LJI journalist, Lisa Utronki spoke to Andrew Ryan, housing advocate who worked on creating this survey on why this survey is so important.

Andrew speaks about the critical need for affordable housing here in La Peche and offers some of his thoughts on how we may work to achieve this. He has been working closely with TDSCO in creating this survey.  Andrew voices the importance of having a housing strategy plan in place within the municipality, especially for when new developments are proposed.  Having a housing strategy plan in place will lead to a more favourable outcome in meeting the needs of the community.

Over the past year a group called La Peche Housing Coalition came together to do a deeper dive into the needs of the community and sustainable development. They worked together to come up with a separate survey then decided to join with TDSCO.  This group will now also play a vital role by looking at the data from this survey. It is highly encouraged for all community members to complete this survey. Of note the survey/consultation period ends on May 9th 2021.
